Parents of a Murdered Student Want Familial DNA Search
Tuesday, January 25, 2011
Gil and Dan Harrington lost their 20 year-old daughter on October 17, 2009 when she left a Metallica concert in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her body was found on January 26, 2010 by a farmer who was tending cattle nine miles south of Charlottesville. The DNA profile of the killer did not match anyone in the DNA Database but the unidentified DNA profile was linked to an unsolved 2005 Fairfax rape. The Harringtons believe that performing a familial search on this DNA profile would identify a family member of the unidentified perpetrator and could point to potential suspects.
